I never imagined ever running the same marathon on 27 June 2020 with superstar marathoner Eluid Kipchoge, the first human to run a marathon in under two hours…exact time 1:59:40, shattering all records as he completed the INEOS Challenge in majestic fashion on the streets of Vienna on 12 October 2019.
“No human is limited,” is Kipchoge’s mantra. Despite his sky-rocketing fame, Kipchoge is down to earth, focused and inspiring.
“As the world comes together to tackle the impact of the coronavirus, please join me by participating in the Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon. I am very pleased to back Lewa and Tusk in their efforts to raise the much needed funds to protect Kenya’s wildlife and provide vital support for communities and schools across my country in this time of crisis.”
– Eliud Kipchoge EGH, Marathon World Record Holder and Lewa Ambassador
My 5-few kllometers is nothing compared to Kipchoge’s but he was my inspiration – l wanted to be able to say ‘l ran with Kipchoge…even if it was a virtual run’ for a good cause, raising funds for wildlife and the people like the rangers who dedicate their lives to looking after this amazing earth.
