On the plains of Kajiado, 17-year-old Rebecca Naisimoi welcomes us to the boarding school, Tembea Girls High, 200 kilometres from her village near Amboseli National Park. The school is closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic but young Naisimoi is still there for one sole reason – her father wanted to get her married off so that he could get some dowry during these difficult times from the husband-to-be. Unfortunately for him but fortunately for the girl, her mother discovered the plan and alerted the school.
